plans for the winter: i would like to travel around, skiing.
i am also planning on having a footrace with mister david
lesh. i have been training rigorously, and i am generally
considered to be pretty fast in foot races. i have also been
described as horsely, which you may think relates to my
speed in footraces, but actually does not.
favorite aspect of skiing: exploring. i love the feeling of
powder underfoot and being completely focused on where
you are at exactly that moment.
why ride for First Drop?: they understand that I really ride for
myself. skiing is pretty much my favorite thing to do and i
am fortunate to have their support. plus i like the people
behind it and what they are trying to do.
the applegate is an illusive creature. you won’t spot him wearing a tall tee in the lift line, or after-bangin’ in the park. alex has pushed the sport in many ways since the mid nineties, but his real prowess only begins to unfold in the back country, away from prying eyes. weighing in at a horsely 220 pounds, he uses his mass to charge through deep snow, trees, bushes, small animals, children, and whatever else comes between him and the fall line. he is also an excellent companion for any adventure you may find yourself embarking upon, and returning with wild stories is inevitable. next time you head into the back country, make sure to grab your shovel, probe, beacon, and your applegate.
